The NUMERICS program is a new international PhD program launched by CEA in the fields of numerical simulation and scientific computing. The program will last 5 years with the recruitment of 3 groups of PhD students during the 3-year periods 2018-2021, 2019-2022 and 2020-2023.
The NUMERICS program is partially supported by the MSCA (Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions) from the EU framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020. Consequently, to be eligible to the program, applicants shall not have resided or carried out their main activity in France more than 12 months in the three years prior to the call deadline (mobility condition).
This new PhD training frame at CEA aims at:
• supporting the training of talented young scientists who are creative, performant and can run into an international quality level with interdisciplinary competencies,
• supporting the production of outstanding research outputs contributing to the development of CEA in the fields of numérical simulation worldwide.
All the PhD fellows recruited under this program will be jointly supervised and/or mentored by an international expert associated with a CEA Simulation Platform in relation with their PhD supervisor.
The PhD degree delivered by the partner Doctoral school will mention the names of the laboratories where the laureates prepared their PhD work.
For the first 2 sessions held in 2018 and 2019, CEA has selected 18 new PhD students in its laboratories. They are all now under a 3-year PhD work contract.
For the 3rd session in 2020, CEA plans to select 32 PhD students to work on the proposed NUMERICS PhD subjects published on this site.
NUMERICS subjects proposed by CEA for PhD projects starting with the 2020 academic year will be posted here in January 2020. CEA laboratories willing to propose a PhD project should use the internal CEA database ThOT.
NUMERICS Program includes training through research and on transferrable skills. [More information here]
